Ghost chairs have been gracing the homes of the trendsetters everywhere since they were created in 2002 by artist Philippe Starck.

A decade later they began taking over the world of weddings, popping up in receptions and ceremonies as a modern upgrade from the traditional banquet chair. The chairs Baroque meets modern chic look allows brides to show off their trendier side while maintaining the classic elegant feel of the wedding of their dreams.

Here at Peabody Opera House the chair’s modern look balances out the classical feel of the rooms, and disappears to allow the beauty of the rooms and your tablescape to shine through. This month ghost chairs took over the building as event designer Lacy Branch of Lacy Branch Events used the chairs in two separate weddings.

One wedding featured them in the Ticket Lobby for the ceremony and the other used them for seating at the reception in the Grand Lobby (pictures of both coming soon).

Here in St. Louis, ghost chairs can be rented through Millennium Productions, or if you prefer a more formal look, the Aries Company offers acrylic chiavari chairs that will give you the same transparent feel with a more formal look. A few stylish examples from the web are featured below.
